Christmas is exhausting.
Sometimes we just need a blizzard in our lives to force us to slow down, stay inside and let the magic linger.
To be honest, I’m not actually sure blizzard warnings help me relax. I might have spent too long wishing for Arizona sunshine this morning. And then (finally) shut my brain up and was grateful I wasn’t flying standby across the country like last year. (This was a real life stress mess…without blizzards.)
If you’re stuck in the snow/stuck in the house/stuck with your crazy brain wishing for warmth…I think you need to spend some time in your kitchen.
I know. There’s already cookie after cookie after cookie in there. Ignore it. Today’s the day to make more.
These are my favorite recipes that take a little extra time. Get into it!
Peach stuffed cream cheese cinnamon rolls make a perfect afternoon snack. Don’t freak out about the yeast…or the peaches. I imagine these would be equally perfect with cranberries instead.
Chocolate fudge cookie bars require you to make homemade hot fudge, and then fold it into cookie dough. Also…there’s hot fudge leftover.
Yeast is also involved in these pepperoni rolls. Letting dough rise and bake with melty cheese feels like the best use of time on days like these.
Peppermint schnapps marshmallows are worth making when there’s time to clean up the kitchen. They also melt perfectly in hot chocolate (with an extra splash of schnapps). It’s not like you’re driving anywhere.
Which is really why holiday red sangria outght to be in this day. It takes next to no time to make…and makes the perfect baking companion.
Can I also suggest you leave the oven open when your baking is done? (Turn it off first. This is just the cool down part, used to throw a little extra heat into your house.) It’s basically a pro-tip…from one always cold lady.
Enjoy the snow…the day…the season. This holiday madness is really not over yet.

I can’t decide which of these things I like more and would make first. We don’t live in blizzard country, thank goodness, but it has been raining since yesterday. Which is why Dudette is riding her Razor up and down the hall.
YUM!
Those pepperoni rolls look delicious! And they are adorable too! :)
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
I am so planning on making lots of yeasty things today. It is so gross outside!
I want to be with you in a blizzard!! If your making goodies like that, there should be more blizzards!!!
Happy Holidays!!!
Awesome picture of the Big H!
we had huge blizzard by us last week and I was lovin being stranded inside with a hot oven going and lots of baking. I wouldn’t mind another blizzard to bake from your list :-)
I spent the blizzardy Cleveland day playing video games with my siblings. It was nice, but I kind of wished I was in my own house baking away!
Since moving back to Colorado, we’ve had two heavy snowfalls. It makes baking so much better! Thank you for sharing all these yummy recipes. They are making me want to bake today (even though the sun is shining!)
