Purse Necessities

I have a nagging guilty conscience when it comes to taking personal days. I talk about cinnamon rolls rising on the counter and spring training games and when it comes down to it...I'm at work.

I run with the pup in the afternoon and buy whole wheat pasta and fight my brain that tries to forget about multivitamins and calcium chews.

I pay off the credit card bills each month. I file my taxes on time. (That one might actually be my husband's doing. It's teamwork.)

I tell you this so you know...I'm a responsible adult.

A responsible adult who cleaned out her purse. And put the keychain with the house key away in a drawer in the process...because it felt organized. Who managed to lock herself out of the house last weekend.

If it wasn't for husbands and crawl spaces that connect the outside garage to the inside hallway...I'd be exactly twelve times more embarrassed.

The good news is, the junk is out of my purse and the necessities are back in.

It felt like a good idea to photograph this mess and share it with you. I dunno.

Zoom in. These things are necessities in my purse.

1. Ipod Touch. This thing is way fancier than my phone. It's my bridge into the world of apps and internets. And the way I take pictures at restaurants when I want to be stealth.

2. Vera Bradley wallet. I like pink things.

3. The Bible and a church program tucked inside. (It was Sunday.)

4. School keys open classrooms and locker rooms. But not houses. Drat.

5. I like my car keys, my driver's license and gym id together. It's a simplifier once I'm at the gym.

6. Random coupon. Rogue paperclip. Tide-to-go (lifesaving) stick. Nail polish...just in case the mood strikes to paint my nails in the middle of first hour or the grocery store line. It's good to be prepared for anything. A pen...for thoughts and signatures.

7. Burt's Bees. I'm addicted. Sample size lip gloss. This is really only there to make me feel girly. I don't even like lip gloss. It's always goopy. Advil. I teach seniors. Enough said.

I wish there were receipts and hair ties in here on this day too. It'd have been more realistic.

Zoom out. Jeans. Actual purse. And, oh yeah. Dogs are secretly interested in this stuff too.

I hope we're better friends now.

PS: I'll definitely talk about food again tomorrow. Scones will be likely be involved. Stick with me.

    1. For real. I'm secretly afraid of eighth graders. Middle schoolers are crazy beings. You rock!

  2. I can't take personal (or sick) days either. I feel too guilty and only do it when my boss sees me and tells me to go home!

  4. Love this! You can learn a lot about a person from what they carry around in their purse!

  5. I always keep car keys, ID, and gym pass (when I have one) together too! After an incident when I ran out of gas on the way home from the gym I also included a credit card with them :-)

  6. I always say that you can tell a lot about a person about what's in their bag.. My bag used to be full of interesting things - like yours. Now all it has that's mine, is my wallet. Other than that it carries a sippy cup, wet wipes, diapers and whole lot of other baby stuff. Yes, I know they have bags for that, but I'd much rather not carry two bags! Sigh. Nice post!

  8. Three cheers for Burts Bees. I dumped all my extra-spendy lipsticks and replaced them with the BB glosses...kept in a mini Vera Bradley. And I see the ubiquitous pain reliever. :-)

  13. I am guilty of carrying around receipts that I have absolutely no reason to save. I will leave them in my wallet for months. That's a lie. I recently found a receipt that was almost three years old. I think I bought deodorant and beer - things I'm sure I considered returning. Not.
